From the Desk of the President Dear Friends, In 1636, the newly formed Harvard University adopted the following mission statement for its students: "To be plainly instructed and consider well that the main end of your life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ." Back then every Harvard instructor professed Christ as Savior and affirmed the authority of Scripture. Every diploma awarded contained the words, “Veritas pro Christo et Ecclesia,” meaning, "Truth for Christ and the Church." How long did Harvard remain anchored in the Truth? In 1718, just 80 years after the school was founded, a group of New England pastors became convinced that Harvard had drifted from its theological moorings, and founded Yale University. By the 1830s, it was clear that Yale had also charted a course away from the truth of God’s Word. In 1917, Dr. J.H. Gauss, our institution’s first superintendent, wrote the following on behalf of the lay worker training school which would one day become Brookes Bible College: “A school of the Book of God, for the Truth of God, to Serve the Church of God.” By God’s grace, a century later we are still anchored to the authority of Scripture and the Lordship of Christ. We recognize that without Christ we have no hope of successfully training servant leaders who will transform the world for Him. And to continue this mission, we need your help. To stay on course and sustain the ministry this year, we need to raise $12,000 by the time our Fall semester starts on September 5, 2017, with an ultimate goal of $60,000 by May 30, 2018. Putting it in perspective, it would take just 240 individuals making a one-time donation of $50 to reach our short-term goal. We prayerfully ask that you consider making a commitment to pray, refer students here for training, and contribute to the Anchor Fund. Help us remain anchored in the truth for another century. Yours for the Master, Robert Thurman | President
