Introduction to Biblical Hebrew

Regular registration for this online instruction is now full, but a few extra spots have been reserved for those desiring to earn college credit by also attending the August 3-6 Hebrew Refresher. Contact office@brookes.edu if you are interested in the online instruction and Hebrew Refresher, but and were not able to register earlier.

Course Overview

This course is a dynamic and interactive introduction to basic Biblical Hebrew grammar emphasizing vocabulary acquisition, development of various grammatical skills, and introduction to translation. Those who complete the course will (1) be able to read basic Hebrew words and sentences from anywhere in the Hebrew Bible, (2) possess an entry-level biblical Hebrew vocabulary, and (3) possess the building blocks for future Biblical Hebrew studies.

Instructor: Dr. Brian Rickett

Format: Online course facilitated with the Zoom conferencing tool.

Schedule: Thursday evenings, 6:00-8:00 pm CT, May 14 – July 30, 2020

Registration Deadline: May 14, 2020 5:00 pm CT (while space is available)

Cost: $0 to the student (Brookes Bible College is sponsoring the cost of participation)

Expectation: Students are expected to attend weekly online classes. There will be regular homework assignments as well as weekly written and oral quizzes to facilitate progress.

​Opportunity for College Credit
Participants may earn college credit (3 credits) from Brookes Bible College by continuing their studies with Dr. Rickett August 3-6, 2020 on their campus in St. Louis, MO—these dates will include four day-long intensive Hebrew lessons to solidify a command of the material taught online May-July.
